The Book of Exodus (or simply Exodus) is the second book of the Torah and the Hebrew Bible. Exodus tells the story of how the Israelites leave slavery in Egypt and led by the prophet Moses, journey into the wilderness. Its authorship is traditionally ascribed to Moses but could have been compiled from oral and written traditions and brought together to form the book around 600 BC.
