Book of Ruth

The Book of Ruth is sometimes collected in the group known as the Writings and in the Christian canon, treated as a history book placed between Judges and 1 Samuel.  The book derives its name from its central character, Ruth the Moabitess, the great-grandmother of David.  The book does not name its author but is traditionally ascribed to the prophet Samuel.  It is believed to have been written sometime around 600 BC.
