The Song of Solomon, also known as Song of Songs, is a romantic song between a man and a woman. Christian tradition holds the poem as an allegory of Christ (the bridegroom) and the Church (the bride). The superscription states that the author is Solomon which would date its authorship sometime around 950 BC. Its inclusion in the canon has been controversial because of its frank discussion of love between a married couple.
