The Herodians were a Jewish sect mentioned twice in the New Testament. In each case, their name is coupled with that of the Pharisees. They may have been courtiers or soldiers of Herod Antipas or possibly a public political party, who distinguished themselves from the Pharisees and Sadducees by the fact that they were sincerely friendly to Herod the Great and his dynasty.
