The Book of Nahum is attributed to the prophet Nahum and was likely written around 700 BC. Little is known about Nahum’s personal history. His name means “comforter,” and he was from the town of Alqosh. Nahum preached during the reign of King Manesseh, one of the most evil kings in Judah’s long history. Nahum’s singular focus on the impending judgment of Nineveh offers a continuation of the story that began in Jonah.
