Jesus chastises Jewish cities for refusing to repent – it’s not the sin that matters, but the repentance (Matthew 11:20 – 11:24)

Jesus chastised the towns in which he had performed miracles, but they still refused to repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Pity on you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were performed in your cities had been performed in Tyre or Sidon, they would have repented along ago in sackcloth and ashes. I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgement than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. Jesus gives authority to the twelve disciples and sends them on mission to spread God’s message (Matthew 9:35 – 10:42)

Jesus travelled through the region (which we can presume was Galilee) teaching in synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God and healing every disease and sickness. These are the names of the twelve disciples: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew, James son of Zebedee, and his brother John, Philip and Bartholomew,

The faith of a centurion amazes Jesus (Matthew 8:5 – 8:13)

When Jesus was at Capernaum, a centurion came to him asking for help. He said, “Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you under my roof. But just say the word and my servant will be healed. I myself am a man under authority with soldiers serving under me. When I tell this one “Go”, he goes and when I tell that one “Come”, he comes and when I say to my servant “Do this” and he does it." When Jesus heard this he was amazed at the man’s faith. Jesus told his followers, “Truly I tell you, I have found no one in Israel with such great faith.
