The First Epistle to the Thessalonians, often referred to simply as First Thessalonians, was probably the first of Paul’s letters. It is believed the letter was written from Corinth but may have been written from Athens. Paul penned the letter to believers in the city of Thessalonica where Paul had earlier started a church. After Paul had left the area, Timothy returned to Thessalonica to check on the church’s progress. When he returned to Paul with a good report, Paul wrote this letter of encouragement to the new believers around 51 AD.
