There are two notable Simon’s in the Bible.
Simon, known as Simon the Zealot to differentiate him from Simon Peter, was one of the 12 disciples. Little is said about him in the New Testament.
Simon may also refer to Simon Peter. He was the son of Jonas. Peter was a fisherman before Jesus called him to service. He authored the two New Testament epistles that bear his name. The verses show Peter was a leader who often acted as the spokesman for all twelve disciples.
