Plutarch, later named, upon becoming a Roman citizen, Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus was a Greek historian, biographer, and essayist, known primarily for his historical works Parallel Lives and Moralia. He lived between 46 and 120 AD. It is believed that several of his historical works have been lost.
