The First Epistle of Peter, usually referred to as First Peter, was written by Peter the Apostle and is believed to have been written during his time as Bishop of Rome or Bishop of Antioch.  The letter’s recipients are addressed as “aliens”, a likely reference to Christians who were living as “aliens” in foreign lands and cultures.  Peter spoke much about persecution of Christians lending credence to a authorship date of 64 AD, just as Nero’s persecution of Christians began gaining steam.
