Adullam is an ancient city ruin (Tell Sheikh Madkhur) built upon a hilltop overlooking the Elah Valley in Israel. Adullam was one of the royal cities of the Canaanites. The ruin, which lies partly on a hilltop and partly in the plain, is also known by the name Khurbet esh-Sheikh Madkour, named after Madkour, one of the sons of the Sultan Beder, for whom is built a shrine. The hilltop is mostly flat with caves, grottos, sepulchres, and cisterns carved into the rock (particularly on the northern and eastern slopes).
